On August 3, following the HAJINOSATO AIR kickoff talk event, we held a nighttime event called “Kofun Yako” (Walking Through Ancient Tombs at Night).
When it comes to walking tours of Hajinosato and ancient burial mounds, these two are the experts. Together with Takayama-san from Asano Books and Tsujioka-san from Kofunist, we took a leisurely stroll around the area near the tomb of Ingyō from 9 PM for about an hour. We concluded the walk by viewing the ancient burial mound next to the Seven-Eleven and then dispersed.
Takayama-san and Tsujioka-san did not lead the way at the front, but instead moved in a relaxed manner, sometimes gathering at the center and other times spreading out. This approach was very enjoyable. My notes 📝
• Walking around ancient tombs at night is scary alone, but not when you're with others.
• The outlines of the ancient tombs are clearly visible at night.
• Conversely, the double structure of the ancient tombs, which is usually visible, is completely invisible.
• The moon was rising above the outline of the top of the ancient tomb of Ingyō, and we all admired it together. Everyone was delighted.
• At midnight, the dogs along the tumulus weren't barking. Were they inside their homes?
• We ended the night with ice cream from 7-Eleven. The guides gave Mariko-san a white bear ice cream and a pear-flavored Gari Gari-kun as gifts.
• Apparently, there are quite a few older men out walking at night.

Even though it's a hot summer, you want to enjoy visiting ancient burial mounds. For those of you who feel this way, we offer “Ancient Burial Mound Night Tours” during the cool evening hours.Your guide will be Jun Takayama, a musician who runs ASANOYA BOOKS from a 160-year-old traditional Japanese house.
Occasionally, Naomi Tsujioka, a “Kofunist” who shares her unique perspective on the charms of ancient burial mounds, will also serve as a guide.
Join the two of them for a leisurely stroll through the ancient burial mounds and the town.
The setting is “Hajino Sato” in Fujidera City, Osaka.
This town is a mysterious place where ancient burial mounds are scattered throughout the residential area, blending naturally with daily life and historical sites.
At night, the outlines of the ancient burial mounds become even more distinct.
Why not explore the landscape and memories of the land in the quietness that differs from daytime?

On August 3 (Sun), we will stroll around the ancient burial mounds. No, really, that's all. If you are interested, please gather at Derahajire at 9:00 PM. No, really, that's all. Please don't ask me about history or ancient burial mounds. I don't know anything about them. Instead, Mr. Tsujioka will kindly answer your questions. For me, it's just a regular night walk. Take care.
