名古屋市民ギャラリー栄 次世代アーティストアーティスト企画展 「Project Space hazi+場七」

名古屋市民ギャラリー栄で開催された企画展「Project Space hazi＋場七」。その最終日に、出品者として会場を訪れました。
なかでも「ぼくたちのスーベニア」の展示は、他の作家の「スーベニア」が気になっていたのはもちろん、自分の「スーベニア」も、写真だけでは伝わらない部分があると感じていたため、これは行くしかないと、別府から飛行機で向かいました。
事前に設営の写真は共有していただいていましたが、やはり自分の目で確かめたくて。
実際に行って本当によかった！
何より嬉しかったのは、自分の「スーベニア」を見てくれている人の姿を、実際にこの目で見ることができたこと。

作品を送るだけでは、なかなか実感が湧きませんが、会場で誰かが作品の前に立ち、じっと見つめている様子を目にしたとき、「ちゃんと届いているんだな」と感じることができました。

展示空間の中で、あらためて気づいたこと、再確認できたこともたくさんありました。

隣に並ぶ「スーベニア」との関係性や、空間との距離感によって、見え方は大きく変わります。自分のアトリエで見ていたときとは違う表情をしていて、「やっぱり写真だけではわからないことばかりだな」と実感しました。（投稿写真の3枚目以降は、アトリエで撮影したものです📸）

また、私のスーベニアやスーベニアテキストはシンプルで、グループ展のなかだと埋もれてしまうかもと少し心配していました。でも、猛暑で少し疲れていた自分には、その素朴さ？がちょうどよく感じられました。

同じように感じてくれた方にとって、ほんの少しでも記憶のどこかに残ってくれていたら いいな。

とはいえ、反省点もありました。

会場ではプロフィールやマップを手にしている方があまり多くなかったため、「スーベニア」のテキスト内に作家名を入れておけばよかったな……と、展示を見てから気づきました。次回は気をつけようと思います！

展示をひと通り見終えたあとは、17時から搬出作業へ。

ちょうどそのタイミングで、以前、岩倉でお会いした方々と再会することができ、嬉しいひとときになりました。

こうしてまたお話しできたのも、あのとき岩倉で hazi の大野さんにご紹介いただけたおかげ。つながりがこうしてゆるやかに続いていることに嬉しくなりました。

今日お会いできた皆さんにも、ぜひ大阪・土師ノ里にも遊びに来てほしいです。大阪のアートシーン、いろいろとご案内できたら嬉しい！

I visited the venue as an exhibitor on the final day of the exhibition “Project Space hazi+banana” held at the Nagoya City Art Gallery Sakae.
Among the exhibits, I was particularly interested in “Our Souvenirs” because I was curious about other artists' “souvenirs,” and I felt that there were aspects of my own “souvenirs” that could not be conveyed through photographs alone. So, I decided I had to go and flew there from Beppu.
Although I had been shared photos of the setup beforehand, I still wanted to see it with my own eyes.
Going there was truly worth it!

What made me happiest was being able to see with my own eyes the people who were looking at my “Souvenir.”

Sending the work alone doesn't really give you a sense of it, but when I saw someone standing in front of the work, staring at it intently, I felt that it had truly reached them.

There were many things I noticed anew and reaffirmed within the exhibition space.

The relationship with the “souvenirs” displayed next to mine, and the distance from the space, greatly altered how they appeared. They had a different expression than when I saw them in my studio, and I realized, “There are so many things you can’t understand just from photos.” (The photos after the third one in the post were taken in my studio. 📸)

Additionally, my Souvenir and Souvenir text are simple, and I was a bit worried that they might get lost in the group exhibition. However, given that I was a bit tired from the extreme heat, their simplicity felt just right.

I hope that for those who felt the same way, it might linger in their memories, even if only a little.

That said, there were also areas for improvement.

Since not many people were holding profiles or maps at the venue, I realized after seeing the exhibition that I should have included the artist's name in the “souvenir” text. I'll be more careful next time!

After finishing the exhibition, I started the dismantling process at 5 PM.

At that moment, I had the pleasure of reuniting with people I had met before in Iwakura, which was a joyful moment.

The fact that we were able to talk again was thanks to Mr. Ohno of hazi introducing us in Iwakura at that time. I was happy to see that the connection was continuing in such a relaxed way.

I hope everyone I met today will also come to visit Osaka and Haji-no-sato. I would be happy to show you around the Osaka art scene!

企画説明｜

スーベニア（お土産）は本来、旅行先での経験や物語を凝縮した「欠片」であり、思い出の拠り所となります。私たちはフとそれを見た時に、旅先での思い出を思い出すことでしょう。また、アーティストにとって旅行をリサーチと呼ぶことがあります。それはただの資料集めではなく、その場所の文化、歴史、自然、人々との深い関係性を構築するプロセスです。

この展覧会では、国内外のアーティストたちが訪れた地で購入、もしくは自ら作った「スーベニア」を展示します。それぞれの「スーベニア」を通して、まだ行ったことのない土地や、新たな文化に思いを馳せるきっかけとなるでしょう。

場七は、本展が開催される2025年7月に一周年を迎えます。若手アーティストを中心に各々の関心と実践を持ち寄る場として運営されてきたこの場所は、個人の延長としての集団のあり方を模索する中で、メンバーの私的な提案によるイベントの実施や、「部活」という形態をとっている。

『斑点を結ぶ』は、場七という場所を周知してもらうと同時に、我々自身が場七やそこに出入りする人々の姿を捉える機会として、メンバー個人による作品と、それぞれが主催する部活単位での発表によるグループ展を行います。これまで民家の一室を通して実践してきた場七が展示スペースである市民ギャラリー栄に赴き、斑点である我々を結ぶことで浮かび上がる場七の輪郭をぜひご覧ください。

会期中にはイベントも開催予定です。

Souvenirs are essentially “fragments” that encapsulate experiences and stories from a trip, serving as a reminder of memories. When we see them, we recall memories of our travels. For artists, travel is sometimes referred to as research. It is not merely a process of collecting data, but one of building deep connections with the culture, history, nature, and people of a place.

In this exhibition, artists from around the world will display souvenirs they purchased or created during their travels. Through each “souvenir,” visitors will be inspired to think about places they have never been to and new cultures.

Ba-7 “Connecting Spots”

Project Description:

Ba-nana will celebrate its first anniversary in July 2025, when this exhibition is held. Operated as a space where young artists bring together their individual interests and practices, this place has been exploring the nature of a collective as an extension of the individual, implementing events proposed by members and taking the form of “clubs.”

“Connecting the Dots” is a group exhibition featuring works by individual members and presentations organized by each club unit, aiming to raise awareness of the space known as Ba-nana while also providing an opportunity for us to capture the essence of Ba-nana and the people who frequent it. Ba-nana, which has previously operated out of a private residence, will now move to the Citizen's Gallery Sakae, a dedicated exhibition space. We invite you to come and see the contours of Ba-nana emerge as we connect the dots that are us.

Events are also planned during the exhibition period.
